Q: Skiing in China: Has anyone tried it?

So with November around the corner, I am switching into winter mode. This means drinking lots of delicious hot chocolate, wearing wooly socks and sweaters and dreaming of skiing down the beautiful Alps! But since I'm in China, the Alps remain a dream. I have heard that there are some skiing resorts in northern China though. Has anyone been? Is it worth planning a weekend trip for?

Skiing in China doesn't really compare to the European or American counterparts. I would recommend you to take a trip to Japan or Korea if your budget will allow it or take a low budget weekend trip within China. #

My own experience of skiing in China wasn't actually too bad in itself but the facilities were not up to scratch. This was in what is probably the best skiing resort in China - Yabuli - a few hours from Harbin. If you want a short skiing trip it might be worth it though wink

bragging time~  I've skiied Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Austria, Glenshee, Aspen, Alyeska (worked as a Lifty there),,,,,,,,   soooooo,, don't think I would go outta my way to ski in PRC.

somehow in my mind PRC & Ski just don't fit together...    just doesn't match up,,,  like oil & water.....
