Q: Someone adding you to a Wechat Group, Rude or Not?

Wechat Topic

I'm sure you have had this happen to all of you, one day you go to your Wechat app and you notice you've been added to a group, no one asked you for your permission, no one cared if you cared about being added to a group, its a feature that needs to be reworked, franly speaking it pisses me the hell off sometimes, and the type of group it is can piss you off even more.

Groups that I'm added to piss me off the most are:

1. Added by parents to groups that have tons of collected foreigners in it with a few other Chinese parents in it for small talk or chit chat..

2. Added to groups that try to sell you something that you never even cared about buying.

3. Added to groups that want you to volunteer or help for a good cause.

4. Added to groups by fellow workers to parents groups to help fill their needs when your fellow coworker never even asked you if you wanna help, but they of course wanna look good that they at least tried to help those parents, so they only use you.

5. Added to groups for job offers and you weren't even looking for a job but those people in those groups are ready to hire you ASAP and its hard to say goodbye.

I just wanna say, I absolutely love the pure evil feeling of joy when I get to push the "Delete & Leave" this group button within 1 minute of being added and sometimes with a sarcastic message left behind: Sorry time is money you wanna chat will cost Y1000 a minute.. Or I say sorry parents I'm the busiest father in the world can't talk or spend time with your kids because I've got my own, happy new year.

What is your limitation on this, if you like being added to groups than all good for you, I would never and am not judging any one here for whatever he or she likes on wechat, just expressing my feeling on this topic but for me an issue.

But if you have funny ways you leave groups that you are not asked before hand to join, what do you say or do? I like funny stories.

Sometimes you have to be in a group for work purposes. Otherwise, if i am added to a group that doesn't interest me, i just quit it. For less innocuous groups i just mute notifications and ignore it.

This is the age of social media. Many people are so self absorbed and invested in the medium that they don't consider adding otjers to groups in terms of normal social convention. It's no big deal.

You've been here long enough to know that by snapping at her like that it won't prevent her doing it again when someone asks her to add you. You know she is incapable of refusing. But she will tell everyone that you are a dick and yelled at her when she was trying to help someone, or whatever she tells herself. Don't be angry at the moon for being in the sky. First, change your screen name within the group. Post something irrelevant for a day or two. Go silent for a day or two. Then quit the group. No one loses face and you can plead ignorance.

How old are you? (it matters)

There is no etiquette, because this is new and uniquely China. I don't know if Yahoo messenger had groups or later MS Messenger. I'm old and therefore a dinosaur.

I'm pro capitalist so I love this way of marketing for freelancers and small businesses.

I generally don't accept any unknown handles contact offers at Skype. That's it!

I have members of people I know in real life (family and friendos) or people I sent CV, who want to discuss an employment.

I don't accept any of the 'parachute' requests. If they consider that as rude, good for them, he he.

I quit all the irrelevant groups during my spring cleaning.

The world is flooded with information and excessive information clutters mind and makes you cannot focus on what's important.

This world has too much information we must have learn to block out what's unnecessary before it sucks time and energy out of us.

I also removed  hundreds of old wechat friends that I don't care or know but kept on posting things online.

Surround yourself with people you like, the choice is yours.

You can also delete those who constantly bring you into annoying groups.

I always ask the individual, and then the group if ok to add.

Wechat groups are a pain in the arse. Its like herding cats. There is always someone who objects to a new member.

If I am added to a group without the inviter asking me first, I delete and leave. Especially if it has lots of stupid breast stuff going on. I cant be arsed with that crap.

I prefer small groups. With people you know and where you can vent on a BCD, or give support if an individual is going through a specific issue.

Its the same with introductions. If someone I know wants one of my friends wechat, I always ask the friend first if its ok to share.

Also, sometimes I just need time offline and I leave all groups I am in. I ask to rejoin some after a few days. Wechat is insideous. It can take over your life if you are not carefull.

I don't mind it. If the group is good I stay. If it's rubbish then I leave.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change student visa to labourer one is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
