Q: Someone said to me, "Some people show their loneliness by smoking?"
What does this mean? I was talking about how much I hate smoking and I think people who smoke in public are rude. Anyway, not trying to start a debate on people smoking in public, just wanted to establish some context. Someone is going to be a dick and try to debate that anyway. But anyway, someone tell me the meaning?

i am not a smoker, and i think each to his own. Whoever said "Some people show their loneliness by smoking?" must be Chinese (apologies for generalisation!) because friends who smoke tell me sometimes they enjoy a smoke by themselves to relax and reflect a bit. I know it doesn't really answer your question!
It mean what it do, Chinglish will to you do help contemplate the what mean. Why the Hell are you trying to figure this out, what possible nuggets of knowledge can possibly lurk within?

Cigars are used for celebration purposes...a regular cigarette butt on the other hand is not. If they are referring to smoking a cigar than no it won't show that you are lonely, but maybe they are referring to the regular one's you see people walking around with.
