Q: Something you like about China
Ok, maybe I am wrong, but by reading most of your replies I can’t help having the impression that most of you are mildly speaking rather frustrated with you present life in China and as an expat myself I can understand it perfectly, but can you name at least one thing (may be an object, cultural trait or anything that comes to your mind) that you enjoy in China or your life here.
I really don't get you. First you post the same comment twice. When I deleted one of them, as I always do if comments are doubling as a reaction you post it 20 times, including starting a new topic and ending up talking to yourself in comments. Well done, I am really impressed.
Can I ask a question about your question? Why are you pin pointing China for how we feel? Just because we live & work here? If you go back to your home country you can ask your neighbors why he does or doesn't like about his city or even his own neighbor. Get my point? No? Well, that's perfectly understandable based on this question. My meaning is simple there isn't one person in this world who doesn't like or dislike something wherever they are currently living.
So please don't waste our intelligences on such a mindless question! Why are these new Common folk so bored! My word!
rememberthedays:
I am sorry, I didn't intend to waste your residual "intelligence".
Englteachted:
China is a big country in land and population but they are small in mind.
Some of the really welcoming people I've met and friends I've made. Some were only friends for an evening in a BBQ restaurant, some will be lifelong friends.
What I like about China is that I can save 2300 U.S. Dollars a month without even trying. Impossible to do back in Canada.
nicholasba:
Funny, I spend exactly 2 times more I would do, for food mostly, back in my country
Robk:
Not for me! Muahaha!
Although I do make USD and it is 1.32 CAD right now.
But I hear you on the taxes. Sales tax and income tax are way too high! Better to save in China and raise a family/retire somewhere else.
lanzhou la mian hu yi ga jidan da suan. that and Panda Kebobs, cheap, fresh veggies, lotsa time off,, haha,, they kinda pay me to be a 'Face' provider.
SZ has a lot of fun things to do, pretty International vibe for a Mainland city,,,, and the Metro there is good as needs be, I also like the SZ Tong. I no longer live in SZ, but I did for 5+ years some time ago.
Chiners themselves may have lotsa infuriating behaviors, but I don't think I've ever encountered any open, outright malice or hostility directed towards me. Of course I'm a lovable guy,,, haha
(not)
Some of the sweet girls smiling at me while their inferiority complex ridden Chinese boyfriends snarl. ![]()
The girls are fantastic. China is the only place where I openly smile back or talk with girls when they are with their boyfriend because I know those spineless cuckolds won't say or do anything.
There is virtually no competition for girls from local guys, we just don't play on the same level. The only competition comes from other Foreigners.
But since I am now married, the smile back at them or quick friendly chat is all they get.
How many times can you post the same question with different accounts, that's what I like the same trolls with new accounts over and over and over and over and over .....
rememberthedays:
Oh my, that's really a big deal. You should report me for that.
I answered this a few times. But will summarize it again, makes me feel better about moving back to China for the winter.
- hotpot (huo guo)
- the BBQ they serve on the streets with cold beer (if you are lucky)
- bullfrog and shrimp stir-fry
- the relaxed laws (but I also like having enforced laws as well)
- don't have to pay taxes really
- the attention (sometimes) and privileges you receive
- the here and there chaotic excitement
Look at fatality and remberthdays, you see how their formatting produces the same abnormality I've never seen before. Some of the words are broken up at the end. What does that tell you?
Is FB going to make a comeback in China?
In the course of the past few years Mark Zuckerberg has become a regular guest in Beijing striving to attract the attention of China’s top politicians. Do you think there exists any chance he will ultimately bring FB to China?

There is no need to post the same answer/comment 10 times.
Englteachted:
I posted it twice and then you deleted both posts. Then I kept posting it back. and a question to other users which is within the rules.
Englteachted:
2 accounts make 2 separate posts with the same unique formatting flaws, I simply posted what they wrote well within the rules. I posted it twice on their respective posts. You then deleted both of those posts despite the fact that I'm well within the rules. That's when I reposted it 3 times and as a question. I'm not Chinese you're not gonna gag me, if you want the truth to stay hidden then do a better job with your tricks or ban me.

People are almost to nice, the food is a big plus and life just seems to be so colorful and relaxed.
nicholasba:
and you don't speak Chinese. Honeymoon phase. I wish I couldn't speak Chinese....
DBushiri:
Yes I lived in China for just a year, but I heard from several people the same thing: most chinese are really friendly and I am optimistic that they will stay that way :D
Englteachted:
Life is colorful, that should tell you all you need to know.
Would it mean 'I don't like China', if I won't write anything?
7 years and so on .....
food, friendly people, lots of opportunities fr work n business.
I love the pleasant aroma, China is the best smelling country in the world. Chinese bathrooms are so great smelling that the entire country smells like the bathrooms.
I love the honesty of the people. Everyone you meet is always completely honest with you.
I love the employers here, they always pay their workers in full and on time, and let's not forget how they always honor contracts.
I love how the government cares about us so much that they don't want us using harmful websites or watching bad films.
I love how they remind us that we are not Chinese every second of every day, over and over again.
I love how they encourage their kids to play with us while we're busy doing work at coffeeshops, who needs to take care of their work responsibilities.
