Q: Is soy sauce detrimental to ones health?

Wondering about the soy sauce that is added to lots of things here.

Anyone know if it is good or bad for you?

Here is what I have read about 'soy'. The soy sauce seems to be ok in daily use. However, recent studies have shown that for men to drink only soy milk is not a good idea for various health reasons, such as:

1] lowering of testosterone levels

2] lowering sperm count

3]  kidney stones - calcium-oxalate kidney stones are the most common type.  Because many soy foods, including soy milk, are rich in oxalates, they may help promote kidney stone formation and should be avoided by people who have a

proclivity for forming kidney stones.

I understand that bathing in it regularly will make your skin go yellowish / brownish.

Not sure about soy sauce, but I saw a guy get knocked unconscious by tomatoes being thrown at him. Admittedly, the tomatoes were in a tin...

By itself, soysauce should be fine in relative good amount. The problem is, the way is prepared. I see sometimes how my wife cook. The oil is almost burned, as well as the food in the pan and than she add soysauce and burn it too. The whole house is smelling just like when you fire some plastic there. When I ask, what did you burn? , I got that stare and some BS like you no need to eat it or other blah blah. Of course, I do not eat it.

So when the food is prepared this way, it should be bad for health, for sure.

I had  GF that could burn water. Anything she cooked was burnt and I wasn't allowed to complain or cook. I used to tell her " Thankyou, carbon is one of the three major food groups"

This article will probably not make me eat more soy sauce http://www.thehealthyhomeeconomist.com/soy-sauce-the-good-the-bad-and-the-surprisingly-ugly/

The bigger problem with soybean production (and this is of course for tofu, fake meat etc.) is the fact that worldwide it is costing a high price for the environment. http://worldinfo.org/2012/01/food-for-thought-soybean-endangers-brazil-amazon-rainforest/ People who eat soy products are killing the planet, now where is my ketchup.

I doubt that the soy sauce is any more harmful to health than the organic or non organic substances that it is being added to.

You mean, it doesn't matter if the car that kills you in a pedestrian crossing has or has not soy sauce on it ?
