No. You are an immigrant.
Know your place. You have no rights
Honestly, you have no rights. They can chuck you out at any time. Tossed out on a whim.
I was sort of hoping that western nations would fight for our rights, fight for freedom of press, fight for the Human rights act and all that.
But no. It seems the west is not interested in protecting human rights or press freedom..
So sorry. We have been fighting for decades, but you have no rights.
You cant work on a spouse visa in China.
But wait. I know lots of people who do. I will mention that in another thread.
But we have no right to work here without a Z or a D.
A republicans wet dream.
And yet China is infested with Republicans working on spousal visas illegally. But they are white Republicans. So they are entitled

This is China, the west can't fight everyone's battles. If Chinese people want freedoms, let them bleed for it.
Also, I agree with China's immigration policy . They limit foreigners from taking jobs from Chinese while sending Chinese abroad to work, send money back and promote China's agenda. This helps China's economy (Now the incompetence, cheating, scamming, nepotism and other shit are a different story)
No. You have to have a work visa.
In saying that, you could probably do part time jobs and get away with it but if you were to get caught it wouldn't be fun getting deported and banned from entering the country for a few years with your wife here.

I have seen many married guys caught, they all paid Y500 and were released from the PSB, never have I heard or seen of a married person deported for working.

No. however, if you work online, and the company pays you outside of China...
I feel someday as green cards became 0.01% more open that we will be able to work on Marriage visa's.
So what you can do is:
1. Work with your guts & bravery if you want. A little risky these days.
2. Work online, Daves ESL cafe "International Jobs" Is filled with loads of online jobs.
3. Use the Shanghai Index in you have Y200,000 as its easy as pie to reach a stock to 0.50, meaning 200,000 x 0.50% = Y1000, now times that by lets say 15 days, thats 15,000 RMB, but do your research and learn the risks.
Zethe:
It's less risky to just loan money with interest to Chinese 'family'.
What are you thinking about? Even if you're a Chinese citizen once you get a green card from another country you're not even allowed to come back without a visa. But there's always a way around this so...
Hotwater:
You're talking rubbish! Getting a green card from another country means you'd still have your Chinese passport!
Hotwater:
Okay. Now if a Chinese citizen got a foreign passport and gave up their Chinese passport they would need a visa. It's easy though. They could get a Q1 visa and then a 1-2 year resident permit.
2 years ago I made the mistake of working on a Q1 visa. The recruiting company from Beijing told me I could. Hey! this was a Chinese company in the capital city of China telling me it was okay. Okay! so I was naive, I didn't know SOME Chinese people tell lies! I got caught at the end of May. I was lucky. When the PSB saw my passport they saw 4 work visas for different colleges. They let me off. If your a new guy, you might not be so lucky. The fine is 5,000 rmb and an invitation to board the next plane out of China. The invitation will depend on the color of your skin, and the influence of your Chinese Spouse.
