Q: STD awareness in China?

Just how conscious are people here about STDs?

Is the use of condoms, in their minds, predominantly used as birth control, or STD-prevention?

STD awareness here is almost nil.  I have heard lines like, "You can't touch me there or I will get aids" and "If we have sex during my period, I will get cancer".

Condoms, if they use them, is strictly used as a form of birth control.

Don't know what country bumpkins you hang out with but my educated, cultured Chinese friends in Beijing are well aware of STDs and even go for check-ups once a year. I think one has to stop generalising and lumping all Chinese together; the reality of the rich-poor divide is that many, young Chinese nowadays have gone abroad or are Westernised enough to be aware of secual health, but at the same time, there are many more who just haven't had access to this info yet.

std ed is this: (mother to daughter) having sex before marriage is bad for females. females can catch diseases if you have sex before marriage. controling women starts with controling the sexual habits of women. that means no std education or sex ed at all.

I have my own statistic. Let's say I have had sex with 6 girls in China.
With the 6 of them previous to penetrate them I pretended I was going to do it without condom and they didnt say anything, I mean they were ready to allow it.
I do it just as prevention and to get scared myself of what I could get if I do it like that, may sound  weird but is true, I do it everytime and so far all the times none girl have asked me to use condom.

I'm talking just about my own experience, I'm not judging all chinese girls.

yup, alot do think its a bit weird when you want to use a condom and have them on your persons/in your house. They seem to think its ok that "chinese men dont like to do it this way"... well duh.. noone does.. but that doesnt make it ok to not use them.
Disclaimer: also not a generalisation of all chinese women, just my experience.

A:No, it's not allowed to work under RP at 2nd job! I'd say, Z visa/RP sponsor can have an objections to your part-time job. I did the same at my English teaching in China and elsewhere, butT ... I casually mentioned at my prime job, some kindergarten or another school asked me to work with them part-time. Then, my Q: "Is that permitted?" ...  Answer from RP sponsor was always "Yes, but you can't be late or miss the classes at our school ..." with my reply: "No, our work schedule has a priority, and I'll arrange classes at kindergarten only in my free time." When I cleared that, I was undertaking any extra teaching hours at other schools and private students in my free time.Sometimes, teachers at my prime job asked me if I'm willing to have some extra classes elsewhere.I accepted after the talk with School's principal. I suggest, you test the felling at your Z/RP sponsor and once you see they don't object, you can work at 2nd job. Keeping your 2nd job as a secret from your employer won't work, 'cause you're laowai and Chinese know exactly what you do in your free time. However, despite your employer's agreement for extra work, you are still in violation of Chinese Labour law, and even if your sponsor agrees to your extra work, you can still get in trouble, because it's clearly written (somewhere ... ) that under Z/WP, one can work only at the Z-sponsor and nowhere else. Penalties ... I'd say, there won't be any warnings and you'll be required to exit China in short Exit time.It never happened to me, so I can't really advice how is when manure hits the fan ...  -- icnif77
