Q: Strangest exercises you have seen Chinese performing whilst walking around your neighborhood?

The ones that always get me are walking backward and clapping their hands, usually to the tempo of whatever is blaring from the portable radio they drag along. The other day, however, I noticed a guy (had to be eighty, eighty-five, at least) who was doing a full-on split, only it was upright against a streetpole. I kept watching, and every pole he came to, he did the same thing. Rather a unique way to stretch. Have you guys come across anything funny or downright strange?

Also, if anyone would care to shed light on the reasoning behind some of these exercises, I'd be much obliged.

There is a guy who is slowly walking back and forth, about 10 paces in each direction. His right hand has the palm facing up, while he very slowly moves the hand up and down above his head. I am guessing he is trying to regain strength after a stroke or similar. I think he is at it every day, and it's at least a year ago since I saw it last. Hope it is helping him.

Walking around with their arms stretched out like an aeroplane. I'll have what they're having.

I saw one guy jogging backwards while listening to his music in the morning. Not sure why he does that. Maybe he's working on his fear of driving when he drives....I see him running around, there is a pretty big size place in the middle of the compound where people exercise....

Mostly I see the dancing, but not much exercising, most people can barely walk and can't walk in straight lines.
