Q: studying on z visa - Urgent

Hello everyone,

I have been studying in a Chinese university as a full time masters student for 2.5 years on Chinese scholarship. I have my defence in january and about to graduate within 6 months. I have found a great job and they are willing to give me z-visa next month. Now, I am worried if I change my visa type, my university might refuse to give me my degree. Can I resume my studies on z-visa?

I don't know, but call to SAFEA (Foreign Expert Bureau) in your city/province should give you the right info.

Enter 'SAFEA" in search above for address and contact no. in your city.

I believe there should be no problem. I know several people who have taken university classes while working on a Z visa and the university was happy to admit them. In their case however they did not have a scholarship so that might complicate matters. Rather than asking the question on this forum I suggest that you speak with the administration at your university to get a clear anwer.

icnf is right, don't ask us call SAFea or go to the PSB who actually deal with visas. If this was a rule of law country, I would say don't worry about it. No country has laws against taking classes while on a work visa. It is just too ridiculous. But this is China, where it is illegal for you to be poisoned.
