Sign up with Google Sign up with FacebookQ: Switched from Android to Apple iOS or Apple to Android iOS? How was it? Why the change?
In China I used android when it first became famous and than used it for years after that, than the Google slow down started, I got pissed and this was when i was using my Samsung S4 with KitKat 4.4 and no matter the update and no matter phone, Android just pissed me off.
So on to the Change: I tried a switch from Android life to Apple iOS life.
Pro's:
I use a iPhone5s and I am loving it, the screen is smaller but I can handle it and I can't tell you how much I love using just one hand and I can use my other hand for anything else, (Don't imagine too much lol.). I love the feel and cool style. I love how it never slows down or freezes like my Android did. The iOS really makes everything super smooth. And I can finally buy apps in China. I love the QQ call feature, 100 RMB allows me to call any where in the world with a 3G or a wifi network connection and that Y100 lasted me over 3 months. So I got rid of my normal calling sim and bought a 4G sim with 72GB on Taobao (Y348) good for a whole year and now have the internet in my hand anytime for a year. I tell people if you wanna call me, call me on QQ or Wechat. haha I don't need a phone number now. (My S4 is for emergency calls only "school", wife or Teacher".). The screen is great, if I look at ESPN I can see the sports guys look more realistic and its almost like I can see the fine details and their skin better. Its like my eye took the picture, that doesn't look the same on a S4 screen.
Con's:
I hate not having a folder where I can stash my resume, I'm not a fan of iTune USB hook ups, I can't drag my naughty Avi's into the iPhone ( I guess I need a special sneaky software, know one?), Wish I could drag MP3 music into the folder instead of using iTunes to convert it. I finger print scanner only pisses me off because because it takes a few seconds more to make it work.
And you?

I use an Android unit as my main phone, but I also bought a cheap Nokia Windows phone as a backup. I find the two compliment each other well.
If I had to have only one phone in China I would go with Windows.
IPhones are excellent of course, but I just feel as if I am being robbed if I have to pay a premium price for a phone that is still essentially crippled by the censorship. Also, like yourself, I don't want to have to use ITunes to copy stuff onto my phone.
Windows phones are the same as Android in that they just act like a memory card if you plug it into a computer. Drag and drop with no conversions. This is important to me as I share photos, so I can plug the phone into any PC and it works.
Nokia maps (called HERE maps now) work great on windows, and you have an option to download entire countries so the maps work offline.
The big downside to windows is that I can't find (yet) a translator as good as Google translate.
Ha ha, Of course, the other advantage of any phone other than an IPhone in China is that you don't get the same stupid question all the time..... "Oh, you have an IPhone 5, why do you not get an IPhone 6....they are better".
i switched from iphone to Android because of the camera. 8 and 20mp is a hell of a difference. Had iphone got a better camera perhaps I would never have switched..
Android all the way, iOS is good for people who don't know a thing and are afraid to break their phone.
Stock Android is so so but there are countless ROMs out here each with unique features, countless customizations, android phones have better hardware, there are many times more apps on the market, and so on.
From Nokia to Android. And not willing to switch to anything i....
They're both good systems I think. And i'm sure windows phone and blackberry are perfectly functional too.
Neither of them is rocket science you know? Give yourself a week and you'll be a pro at whatever one you switch to. And i'm sure blackberry and windows phone same deal.
Just get whichever phone you like.
I went from Apple to Android, then back to Apple then back to Android and then at last back to Apple.
Every time I decide to get a new phone, Andoid phones tempt me because of their high specs; higher res screen, higher res camera, better value for money (in some cases) and they are more customizable.
However I always run back to Apple, because I think they require less upkeep. They might have blocked a lot of the functions that you might get on Android (even more if you get superuser rights) but I just use my phone for basic tasks, and I feel that Apple has a smoother interface. But it all comes down to opinion really.
Switched from Android to Apple, because my first and only Android phone was super buggy and super slow, I couldn't download anything from the app store in China except from a sketchy third party source, and the phone itself was bulky and not convenient to use. Apple is super sleek, lightweight, comfortable in the hand, and has an intuitive and smooth user interface. I'm too lazy to switch back and learn the ins and outs of the vast array of Android phones, so I'll stick with Apple.
