Q: Switching to a non-teaching job in China: What are my career prospects?

So I was wondering, what a foreigner's career prospects are after spending several years in China teaching English (and not having any other experience on the resume). What kind of industries are easy to get a foot in the door in? Have any of you successfully made the transition to non-teaching job and how did you get the job?

You can try running a restaurant/bar. I saw an ad a guy was selling his bar said that they had everything set up you just pay and you are the bar owner.

I am assuming there are many ways even though it is quite difficult. If you dont wanna save up money and open a bar. Then perhaps you can find a way to follow the route I took.

I found a very large chinese "international company" and started as a teacher. I worked hard and shut up and didnt complain. My salary grew larger by alot after the first contract was up, and after a year and a half total, they had decided that I was valuable enough to teach my a new functional position.  From my experience no one is gonna hand you an opportunity, but if you squueze into the right position, and keep your head down, it can happen. Good luck!

There's always copy editing for state media. Pay is anywhere from 12,000-20,000 a month.
