Q: Taipei or not?
Happy New Year everyone
I still have time off work and am going slightly stir crazy doing nothing although I am enjoying the peace and quiet I would rather get away somewhere not too far.
Has anyone been to Taipei as my friend has some last minute tickets at her travel agency going at good rates, so anyone recommend Taipei and any general advice about visiting the city?

Go... Hotels might be pricey. It's a great city, don't spend time on going up in that big tower (Taipei 101) unless the skies are blue.
Food is great, people are civilized. It is just like how China should be.
In the 90's I worked for about two months on a project to replace Spent-Fuel Rods at Kuosheng nuclear power plant in what they call 'New Taipei', which I would just call extreme suburbia. Anyway, we used to go into real Taipei on our days off and do the tourist bit. Enjoyable place. I would go if I were u.
It's a great place. The night markets are always good.

I don't get your annoyance. He's asking if anybody has been to Tapei and if they recommend it? Other people have asked these types of questions.
