There is no standard wage for a teacher's salary in China for foreign teachers.  It can be as low as RMB 2,500 per month, believe it or not, and it can range as high as RMB 20,000 per month (in Shanghai for example in the International Schools).

Is it higher than some jobs in China?  Yes.  And is it lower than other?  Also yes.

The question is a little bit vague.

A: You can work only if you hold a work permit and residence permit yours
A:You can work only if you hold a work permit and residence permit yourself. The same conditions for all foreigners apply. You have a job and the company can legally employ foreigners. Work permit is tied to that company and location that you are actually working and the position matches. You can't just work in China if you hold a dependence visa or residence permit.  -- jmintzis
