Q: Tell me this why is Mandarin in Iron Man III that guy that played Ghandi in another film?

I beiieve it was him from the photo I recently saw. And I think they are just messing it all up. Mandarin is supposed to be an oriental guy. I'm not exactly to sure about him only that he has rings with special powers and that he has long black hair and a long black beard. The guy that I saw portraying Mandarin is a middle eastern looking guy with a white scruffy looking beard.

They got that wrong and Nick Fury! I'm still going to watch this movie, however so far no good. I'm sure Iron man will be cool, but the bad guy so far doesn't fit the part of Mandarin. I think some of the movie was filmed in China not to sure on that either, but I believe it was.

I know.  I won't say what my thoughts are, but if this quote were true I would be a combination of a puppy, latex and a wide-bottomed hair brush.

It's not like they're going to put him in yellow face. Anyway, that character is problematic because he's Marvel's version of Fu Manchu. You kinda can't put that kind of racism into a movie without making them into CGI aliens in Star Wars or anthropomorphic talking cars.

Although, when they finally make a Great Lakes Avengers movie I hope that Squirrel Girl's (the canonically most powerful person in the entire marvel universe) companion "Monkey Joe" is played by an actual squirrel. Nuff said.

They didn't want to offend the Chinese public, since it is now a huge market for Hollywood. Remember when they modified all the initial Chinese flags and writings to North Korean with CGI in Red Dawn last year.
