Q: Is there any age limit for drinking and buying alcohol in China?

Apparently there is no drinking age limit, but you have to be over 18 to buy alcohol if it is over .5%, it is a ban rather than a law!
I have seen young children come into a shop and a buy a beer for their fathers etc, no one seems to say anything. Mostly there does not seem to be problems here with alcohol as it is freely available.
I can't understand why some countries have problems with it when it is so rigorously controlled by the government.
the age limit seems to be something according to hold old you need to be to A) walk into a store and B) carry money and walk away with beer.
Interesting point Alex. You can access beer without an age limit. Beer is also very cheap BUT I have seen little evidence of youths or older teens drinking dangerously or hanging around drunk causing trouble. Anyone want to hazzard a guess why. Is it the forbidden fruit theory or has it to do with marketing.
As long as you have money and can reach the counter you can buy beer in China.
There is no limit,I always bought alcohol for my dad since i was 6 years old and i started to drink alcohol when i was only 8 years old or so which was given by my dad, then i was addicted to it,but i got rid of it when i was 11,and i have seldom drunk it ever since.
