Feel the flu coming on slowly but surely and want to bust it before it gets really bad. Anyone know of any good Chinese medicine for keeping nasty flus at bay?

Most likely
Does it actually work, I would be skeptic. Once you feel the symptoms the flu has already had 1-2 days to get settled in your body. All there is to do is get a stack of movies and then wait it out. Drink lots of water.
I had it two weeks ago. I didn't check my body temperature, but I felt sick and tired overall.
I didn't use any medications, either. The worst was very dry cough. When I started to cough, I couldn't stop coughing for 5 minutes at the time. Cough was the reason, I had to take sick leave for few days, because of 'attack' I had while in the classroom.
Before going to Hospital in China, I always 'hear' Heiman Roth's line in Godfather II, while he was sick in Havana : 'I want my own doctor, flying in from Miami. I don't trust a doctor, who can't speak English! '
Well there isn't any medicine that will stop it but to perhaps help you through the snotty nose, coughing and slight fever I will recommend the following:
A Traditional Chinese medicine called Shuanghuanglian Koufuxe will help you with cough, sore throat and upper respiratory tract infection. It's a vile tasting liquid in a small bottle (vile bile in a phiall you might say!). Little plastic straws and a puncture tool are supplied. 3 times a day. According to the write up I read it's all natural substances. I mixed that with an antibiotic called Cefixime capsules. For the fever and achy body take 1 Nimeishuli pian in the morning and 1 before going to bed. Lots of water.... although I admit to washing the taste of the vile stuff out of my mouth with a nice merlot wine!
icnif77 - there is a natural breathing method to stop coughing and coughing attacks based on the best cough suppressant being carbon dioxide. I do agree with going to a Chinese hospital being your last choice.
