Q: Is there any way to get a Z-Visa if you are overage?

I have worked in China for almost 10 years and taught there for 8. I started teaching at age 58 and got a Z-visa at ages 60-61-62-63-64-65-66-67 I just turned 69 and want one last teaching position at a middle-school, high-school-university

I have skills few others have:

I teach Critical Thinking, Lateral Thinking, Creative Thinking for SAT and TOFEL I also teach Art and Design and a special course on Developing Advanced Creativity,

I thought that isn't possible once you are older than 60. Law states, you cannot get Working permit after age of 60 years.

Which city/province did you work all these years as an overaged?

ambivalentmace:

probably some where very cold that know one wants to teach at the location.

Shandong universities used to be able to get an age waiver, not sure now, we had an American from Guam that taught at the Architect school till he was 72, but he was an actual retired architect, not just an English teacher, but he only taught English there.

It is possible but depends on company, area, relationship with local labor bureau.

I know a British owned company in Zhongshan who employ one mounding expert who’s 70. They got him a work permit due to his expertise & fact they were training up

I was talking about ESL 'experts'. They most likely bend the rules in other professions, i.e. for highly sought experts.

I have known a few people, who have carried on working,or even started a new job over 60,the problem is company insurance, just get your own insurance, some companies will give you a one off payment or slightly higher salary to offset your insurance payment,

Apparently recruiters in Shaanxi province can get Z visas. I would also like to know if there are other jurisdictions in China that can get an age waiver?

It can take some bread to achieve, however an M Business V- has a similar function, but you may have to Taco Bell every 60 days.  I've heard of 3 year to 10 year V- that are Business V-

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
