You can get good white rice any where. China has the best white rice in the world. And you can have Chinese vegetables too.

Vegetarian food is difficult to come across here.I found a nice rice porridge in a local cafeteria when I first came, then on the fourth day I ate it they put a big chunk of spam in the bottom of it. Gross! There are Buddhist vegetarian restaurants near temples, for example, I find a lot of the time they just make imitation meat products that aren't as good as real dedicated vegetarian food. If you can find the dishes that are actually vegetarian food (not just imitation meat) then it's a good place. Also sometimes I eat in a Chinese Muslim restaurant that has a vegetable noodle dish, they're pretty good with cleanliness too.
