I'd look elsewhere if I were you. You really don't want the hassle.

You can play an African tribesmen at the next CCTV New Years Gala.

Although they are filling those positions with Chinese people, but if you can balance a jug of water on your head and have a big ol booty you might be able to get a spot. It pays well too.

China is upping the Jingoist ante. There were black professionals teaching in universities and colleges up to about a decade ago, then there was a shift towards racial intolerance.

Many black people in China complain about overt racism, especially discrimination in the job market. White people have been fired for trying to help their black friends find a job.

Schools say they are only catering to the demands of the education market. And Chinese parents seem to prefer white faces to teach their children. Even a drunk Russian pervert who can barely speak English, is preferred over a black teacher.

You could try using baseball as a way to connect and make yourself more interesting, but it's not so easy if you're also female.

We just hired a lady from South Africa, but this is the only country in Africa on the list in Shandong, probably because of the BRICS deal, I suspect.

You have a certificate in fashion design? So you don’t gave a bachelors degree?

You’ll find it almost impossible to get a legal non-teaching job with no degree. You definitely won’t get a legal English teaching job with no degree.

Plus as mentioned, with the racism in China you’d also have problems being offered jobs.

No, looks like you're not qualified to work legally in China.

If you teach it will be illegal, same as the other 75% of the English teachers. You would be better off getting a job other then teaching since they can get you a work visa depending on the job. There are always sales job and modeling jobs available. Just depends on your skills and willingness to do shady things.

Difficult. Your best bet might be to do some designs and contact traders in China. If your designs are for the Kenyan market then research Xiaobei in Guangzhou. If your designs are for the US or EU market then still try Xiaobei. Traders are probably your best bet. Design from home, get made here and export direct to target market.

Avoid trafficers at all cost. I know black women who have been trafficked from African countries, white women who have been trafficed from Russia, and middle aged white Americans who have effectively been trafficed from the US.

Only natives from the original English speaking countries of USA and Canada can get the legal working permit to teach English in China.

nzteacher80:

Also New Zealand, Australia, Ireland, South Africa and now 100,000 teachers from the Philippines.  You can also teach here if you acquired your Education or English major degree from a native speaking country.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
