Sign up with Google Sign up with FacebookQ: There is new questionnaire required by SAFEA, before FEC is issued?
Last week I had to fulfill online Test, before School will apply for new FEC. I was told by Chinese manager, that Test is required by Chinese Government, before issuing FEC.
Name of the Test (website) is 'Evaluation System for Foreign Language Expert'. Manager told me, System is available online. I cannot get web link, because Internet in Tianjin Hotel is connected to 'turtle' server.
Evaluation System has 5 parts:
- Background info: questions from Resume with photo;
- Behavior Style Test: psychological personality test with around 80 question, where you must choose 'intensity' level of the question from 1-5; i.e. 'I get angry very easy'., or 'I never spend more than I can afford.', and so on; 20'
- Basic Knowledge Test: questions about China, i.e 'Who was Chinese president?' (choose between three Chinese names listed), or 'What is the color of wedding dress in China?' (three colors listed); 20'
- Writing Test: Give advice to Chinese students wishing to study on top 5 Western Universities?' No more than 200 words; 15'
Test is timely limited, and give evaluation of your personality and teaching knowledge. I am not sure, what numbers do they use for 'graduating' or 'failing' the Test.

here it is ... http://202.96.25.8
WhiteBear:
seems like it is dedicated for Foreign Language Experts, not all "Experts"
icnif77:
Yes, it is for Foreign Language Experts, only. Part of the test are questions about teaching.
I am not sure, if is it possible just to have look at the questions, or you must finish it once you log on.

From the questions you listed, it sounds like they got it from a Wal-Mart Employee Application Form.
icnif77:
I just get few examples, I remembered.
First one is psychological (personality) test, and 'general knowledge test' has questions mostly about China, and some questions about teaching.
just ask any student they know how to get the test their experts at passing tests lmao
It doesn' say anything about being required.

That's 77Y old thread.
School in Tianjin made me pass test online. Boss said, 'you must pass the test for new Z visa'.
Few days later, boss returned from PSB with my passport, and plane ticket Tianjin - Shenzhen. It was on the last day of my F visa. I had to exit China.
I ended up in HK, and returned to China a month or so later with Z, sponsored by Helen Group.
I'm still extending the same RP, with few different employers. I've never seen that questionnaire after that!
It is actually required in certain cities, it is a BS test. The questions come from Chinese Tests. It's questions cover topics about obscure teaching styles and various literature. Basically it seems to be designed to make foreigners look equal to Chinese English teachers because it has very little to do with actual English ability such as the IELTS or TOEFL. It is more about what Chinese English teachers learn.
I had to pass that test when i was teaching at a university. I never been told why I should pass it... Some questions evaluate your knowledge of Chinese culture, the kind of things you would read on the last pages of the Lonely Planet. You have a lot of fairly transparent questions to evaluate "your abilities to teach". Like "would you punch a kid ?" ^^
icnif77:
Yes, I'm not sure about 'punch a kid', but they get your personality with similar Q.
i have never seen or heard of this test, and i have been and am teaching in a university.

Like he said, it's a new requirement, if you change jobs you'll have to take it, MAYBE?. This could be one of those "try it now, maybe use it later."
sorrel:
i changed jobs in the last year from a Tier 3 to Tier 1 city.
there were no additional requirements for me - not even a criminal background check.
It could just be a location specific requirement
icnif77:
Tianjin city! I was surprised, and boss stated 'required at Z'. She probably applied for WP.
They also have that for that China TEFL course, if you take this TEFL course, this exam comes with it.
If it is to measure the teaching skills and knowledge of educational issues and methodologies and principles, then it fails in doing so. I have a teaching license from my country and I had to answer questions about educational theories, best practices and history of education. Since I majored in English, I had an additional exam on English grammar, English Literature, and reading comprehension. Math majors had to be asked about math core subjects. I was not given this test in Shanghai when I taught there in 2009 but if I will be given this test now, I will fail the Chinese culture part unless I read up on it since I only know the very basic information about China. I know that the English part will be a breeze. The knowledge of education may be a bit tricky if they are not using the Western model.

Dude - it's from FOUR years ago... and we've NEVER had to do this test since it was posted FOUR years ago...
When you do the test you need google open in another window. You need to google fast. I didn't know the date of the revolution nor the year that macau reunited with china. I'm also not so good with the names of chinese philospers. Perfectly reasonable test for foreigners to take
