Q: Is there an online shopping website for electronics in Shanghai?

Is taobao the best and only option when it comes to ordering IT products online?

the other places you can look at  are Gome, Suning, DangDang, 360, and New Eggs. All these online stores are in a price war at the moment and selling electronic items for cheap.

TaoBao is a online shopping site.....has electronics to sell and guess what.....TaoBao company is located in Shanghai

brisguy:

Taobao is owned by Alibaba. Taobao is like ebay with sellers all around China. So you would need to find a local seller.

Taobao is one of the largest (perhaps the largest online shopping site? I'm not sure...) online shopping sites.

But if you're in Shanghai, I'd suggest you go to Xujiahui and walk around there where you can see the stuff before buying it.

I'd also recommend amazon.cn for buying stuff online. They take customer complaints rather serious. I ordered and payed for a book online, but after 2 weeks I never got it. I'm a pretty patient person, but after I contacted the company which sold the book and it still didn't reply, I took my time and finally found the "customer complaint" option on the amazon website. The next day I got a call from someone from the company which sold me the book and the day after that I got my book.
