Q: Is there a park in Beijing that's not too crowded and where you can actually sit down and relax?

Just wondering. Every single place I go to is completely packed - no benches, lots of noise and swamped with people.

Purple Bamboo park - 紫竹公园 (zi zhu gong yuan) is really nice, and does not suffer from the usual mass crowds.

A canal runs through (all the way up to Summer Palace actually) and there are lily ponds, picnic areas, benches, tiny huts selling snacks and drinks, and lots of green coverage. The park itself is quite big so you can wander around for ages, and I've never seen more than a handful of people in there.

you know the capital Beijing is crowded with people in prosperous regions. parks are best places for people to relax, however you will find the parks not so crowed in workdays, haha, maybe you can have another try
another solution you can consider is to carry a rug or carpet
