Q: Is there a quintessential Chinese children toy?

What toy would all Chinese children have had as toddlers ? Is there such a thing? (perhaps disregard the last couple of years as it seems all kids have small electric cars they learn how not to drive in)

Yoyo's and Slingshots *were* very Chinese. Maybe not invented by China, but popular enough to say that if you grew up in China, you'll know how to use these. Soon to be replaced by "dad's secondhand iPhone", the newest quintessential Chinese toy.

Oh wait, dad sold it for a little bit of cash, and people hate old things...
