Q: Is there something like the Alliance Francaise but for Chinese languange in the USA?

I would like to practice the little Mandarin that I've learned but I live in Florida. I was wondering if there was such an organization like the Alliance Francaise in the USA where one can network and practice their Chinese???

The Confucius Institute. They're only attatched to universities, but they offer classes for non-enroled students, like the Alliance, or what have you. However, it looks like their only one in Florida is in Tampa, and only offers courses for enroled students, sorry.

You could try to find something like these:

Or you could go to any Chinese restaurant and talk with the staff.  In my experience they mostly enjoy talking to laowai who actually try to learn more than "ni hao". Smile

I don't know if they have chinese as a second language available, but the chinese school close to me does. I had to ask specifically about it, so maybe the one in tb does too.
