Q: Is there a website that allows you to trace someone by phone number?
I often get calls from people, and, generally, if I don't recognize the number I don't pick up. Is there a Chinese website where you can input someone's number and get the ID info?
1,500,000,000 inhabitants and considering most people I know have at least 2 phone numbers...even if you had the tool...imagine that amount of wrong dialed calls, people with new numbers and the similarity between every Chinese name.
Most people get sim cards without any ID for 50RMB. Having a system that says who owns that number would be impossible. And that doesn't even take into account how easy it is to spoof the number that shows up on your caller ID.
The best you can do i think is use the search option on www.hao123.com. However, that will usually only tell you what city and district the number is registered in and also the subscriber's phone service provider.
Kinda butting in here as well, but since this happens to me often, I was also curious.
What if it's a land line? Any way to track those?
Beetle, nobody who makes unwanted calls uses a landline... specially HIS landline.
If You trace it (yes, with help of "institution" it is very easy) - You will go to suburbs, when the net of cables hangs from everywhere, and one is put into the place that should not be.
But only track of tires will remind the vehicle that other end of this cable was connected too.
