Q: Things to do in Tianjin?

I'm thinking of a weekend getaway as it's next door to Beijing and only 30 mins away of the bullet train. Anyone been there? I keep hearing from friends there's nothing much to do except visit the concession. Still, I'm looking forward to the train ride if anything.

Darkstar, I've traveled there last year when I was at this school. They provided the trip free of charge so I couldn't say no. Well, I actually could have said no, but that would be stupid. Right?!? I'll tell you the place that I went was rather empty. And this was a tour bus we are talking about here. It was supposedly taking us to a famous place in Tianjin but I didn't see anything special about it. It was some old place it was huge but besides that, empty! I'm not going back there after the trip that I took there but I think you should go at least once to see for yourself. You might have another opinion than mine.

If you like quiet places that's the place you want to go in China. It was really quiet there when I went there. You could probably sit next to a tree and read a book or something..
