a SNAKE DINNER is not a cheap dinner in China, since a snake is consider here to be like an afrodisiac, increasing your libido.  I had it once at a restaurant in Beijing area, near the Great Wall, and the bill for lunch for 4 of us was 2,000 Rmb.  TG we each pay 1/4 of the total bill.
If you do not know you are eating a snake, you may even consider it delicious.   But I must be getting old, it had no "viagra" effects on me what so ever.....

Wow! BJ is expensive!  There is a village restaurant near my home where I go for snake.  For 4 people it normally runs around 300-400 total.  It depends on the number of snakes & extras we order.  

The process starts off with us going to the kitchen to pick the snakes we want.  There are poisonous and non-poisonous snakes, the poisonous ones are better because they are fatter.

Once we have picked our snakes a handler removes them from their cages and slaughters them right in front of us.

We then go back to our table where our snake will be cooked hotpot style.  It takes a long time to boil snake.  So while we wait, the first event is one of the grossest things I have seen in China.

They get a small bottle of baiju and squeeze the contents of the snakes gallbladders into the bottle, turning the baiju a dark green color.  I never thought baiju could smell worse, but putting snake gall in it does the trick.

Then all the men are served shots of this putrid mix.  Yes, I have drank it. Many times.  It is supposed to be good for mens health.  I don't know if that is true, but is sure tastes nasty.

Then comes one of my favorite parts, snake blood fried rice.  It may sound gross, but it is actually very, very good.  

After the rice the snake is about ready to eat.  And man, is it good.  I really enjoy it and recommend it to anyone willing to try it.

On a side note, the first time I had snake was in Texas at a chilli cook off. I was served rattle snake chilli.  It was amazing.  :)
