Just for fun and being a tech geek myself I did the whole download and replaced my Windows 8.1 with Windows 10, yes loved it, cool features, many things fixed in the deep down core of it all..I did install this on 2 computers and I had one BIG problem and it would be problem if there isn't an update yet, after all Windows 10 was only released 2 days ago..
But my VPN wouldn't work as a VPN should... Meaning the VPN connected and everything... Normal sites loaded normal like www.yahoo.com, but Facebook wouldn't load nor any other blocked site worked...
But I only did the upgrade method, not a clean sweep from scratch.. Not in the mood for a sweep as of now... So I had to downgrade back to Windows 8.1... And this my VPN worked as it should again without any issues.. I tried every setting, all sneaky apps or tricks, no luck.. I wanted to keep Windows 10. Guess a sweep is on the list.
Let keep this open for Windows 10 downloaders and tell us how it's going for you in China with Windows 10.

I also upgraded yesterday and my VPN service works with no problems. However this morning I did have one problem trying to start the computer. Kept on telling me there was a problem and would not start properly until I had rebooted four times. Apart from that though I like it.
I like the look of Windows 10 but won't be upgrading for maybe 6 months. I use my laptop for work and we're only a small company so if anything doesn't work after the upgrade I haven't got any technical support to fix it. I can do a fair bit myself but haven't got the time at the moment. I'm going to wait & see.....read the tech articles, see how others go on and once I'm confident that all the software I use is okay on the upgrade then I'll change over.
Will be be interested in other people's experiences on here.

I feel the same way. Microsoft doesnt have the best track record for shipping new OSes bug free.
Best to wait. My windows computer has 8.1 and no complaints. I'm almost afraid to change anything because its worked so well.
I will try and post my experience soon, have a good assortment to try windows 10 on, the school apartment has a slow 32bit 2g ram desktop, office has same on a network, other house has a 5 year old dell desktop 64bit, 2 laptops with 64bit, im gonna start with the slow ones that i dont use often and work my way up.
I upgraded my laptop to win 10 yesterday.. works nice though I don't find much of a difference... Regarding the VPN, strange but true I didn't get a chance to check whether it works or not... will check later in the day today..even if it doesn't work I have this alternate PC running win 7 with very good VPN

Are you sure you have the most up-to-date version of your VPN installed?
I also did it yesterday but was a version behind and I had the exact same situation as you. Once I installed the newest version, everything was fine.

After some research and looking around I found out it was a new security feature called: Windows SmartScreen.. Turned it off and the VPN worked..
I got this email today:
Help a friend skip Windows 10 and try GNU/Linux
Dear ,
We can't stop all the millions of people who are installing Windows 10 right now, but we can influence our friends and family to skip Windows and join us in the free world. As you know, Windows 10 puts those that use it under the thumb of Microsoft, while free software treats users as equals and gives them control over their digital lives.
Pledge to help a friend switch to GNU/Linux today.
We've also created a new area on our site for people interested in switching from Windows. Check it out, and share it with your friends to get them excited about joining you in the free world.
The FSF maintains a list of endorsed GNU/Linux distributions, and there are myriad resources online for getting started. If your friend wants to try free software but can't be persuaded to leave Windows quite yet, show them these free programs that work on Windows. If they're thinking about buying a new computer, show them the laptops we certify through our Respects Your Freedom program. If they're the type that builds their own computer, they can use h-node, the community-maintained database of computer components that work well with free software.
We can't hope to match Microsoft's huge advertising budget, but if you're on social media (see our recommendations for user-respecting social media systems) you can help raise awareness of Windows' abuses and encourage people to switch, in your own words. Help us jam Microsoft's ridiculous #UpgradeYourWorld hashtag by including it in your posts encouraging people to steer clear of Windows.

Upgrading Windows is about as geek as going to Mac Donald's is being a gourmet...
Sorry, I needed to say that. For the rest, yeah, Linux has about everything I need even in terms of gaming for hardly any hassle.
ironman510:
It's all good man, I know the feeling of loving an OS and supporting.. But while you're bring up Linux and it's relation to the OS Android, do find that Android is becoming boring and nothing new therefore there's no need to buy that beautiful Samsung s6 Edge?
Update to my earlier post. The start up problem has gone away so all is working fine now. Having had 48 hours to play around with it I can say I am definitely not changing back to Win 7. Win 7 was good but this feels a lot nicer to work with. Windows Edge, the replacement for IE11, still needs a bit of work on it in a couple of places so I have carried on with Chrome for now. Also upgraded my wife's computer yesterday with absolutely no hitches and for someone who is not at all tech savvy she made the transition from 7 very easily. All in all I am happy with it.

Next test for us, I always had to use E browser and couldn't use Firefox for buying stuff on taobao because that required me to use my Bank Of China online account with its security add-ons... I couldn't get those BOC security add-ons to work with Firefox, haven't tried with Chrome yet...
An update on my end, Got the VPN to work. There's a new security feature called: Windows SmartScreen... I turned it off and the VPN worked as a VPN should... Cool.. Thank god it was an easy fix, I'm liking Windows 10.. I also turned off all the location, error data sending junk..
Nessquick:
yep , I always close those features , it is fine that there are the on - off switches :-)

Thanks! I had an identical problem, and I was tearing my hair out trying to find a solution :)

If Edward Snowden's patriotic exposure of all things 'super secret surveillance state' in America were not enough, Newsweek reports that, as 10s of millions of hungry PC users download the free upgrade, Windows 10 is watching - and logging and sharing - everything users do... and we mean everything.
Windows 10 should be renamed to Spyware OS https://t.co/4N8x3XJ9dv

From the moment an account is created, Microsoft begins watching. The company saves customers' basic information - name, contact details, passwords, demographic data and credit card specifics - but it also digs a bit deeper... and finding answers is not easy, as one privacy expert exclaimed, "there is no world in which 45 pages of policy documents and opt-out settings split across 13 different Settings screens and an external website constitutes 'real transparency'."
I a,m using w10 almost half year and I am highly satisfied with them, although there was many bugs. but the ecosystem is working, you write directly to developers feedback site about your poblem, other users can see that too and simply upvote you to show there is more users with same problem, or create new one, and some time later to this, someone will fix it and you get your update, your pc restart when you dont use it and morning you have fresh system given that it is going be the same system for phones and tablets, with same apps, think it will be something really nicely working...

I've used a Windows phone 1020 for the camera.. But I must say windows on a phone reminded me of an OS designed for Children or the elderly. Windows Phone OS has a long way to go..
Nessquick:
yea, that§s right,. the phone win is something i didn§t like visualy too. maybe it will be better after update now, I am thinking about to get one lumia phone, waiting for the new model come up for sales
Windows 10 in China? I wouldn't want Windows 10 ANYWHERE!
