Q: For those needing F.B.I Background Checks:How long did you have to wait to receive the letter?
Today I just received my F.B.I. Background check from the U.S.A. I did my fingerprints in Shanghai in late September, and sent the F.B.I. the original card the first week of October. All in all a little over 4 months for me. It took two months to receive my state background check.
It seems every year one needs more paper work. I don't mind the background checks to keep children safe, but at least be consistent if a province needs them or not.

It wasn't just a letter, it was an envelope with a stamp on it and it had a letter in it. It took 3 months with my mom's mailing help.
Is this for a renewal or a new visa/residence permit?

I want to change provinces, so it will be a new RP at a new province. If you are renewing some provinces require it and some do not.

Only some cities require a FBI record during the renewals.
Under 2 months, from the start of the process to receiving the certified, apostilled documents. For ROK it had to be certified by the US State Department and local notary after being sent by the FBI.

China doesn't require nor use apostilled documents.. An embassy signature is the way China goes about it.. Korea requires an apostilled documents.
