Q: For those who have a work visa in China, how does this affect family members who accompany?

I have worked in NZ and myself and my dependents were all covered as part of my work permit visa. I am not sure who that would work in China. Would I have to travel outside of the country with my children every 6 months?

You have a work Visa...you can get a form from the PSB for dependent visa...they ll issue you an invitation for your family members...send an invitation to them ..they ll apply at the consulate and get the tourist visa..then they come to china and you apply for their resident permit (for the same time duration as yours)...BUT they cant work here..

The whole exercise take around 20 -30 days and lots of paper works

Why u need to travel outside??

As above, your family can apply for a spousal or dependents' residence permit. They have the same rights to live here as you but must apply for a separate 'Z' visa and RP should any of them wish to carry out paid employment.
