Q: Threating email... WTF

I just received an email from a certain Meng Guangyu to my work email contact:

"你要去死了!!我知道你在中国没有工作签证!!

我会向出入境报告你没有签证!婊子!!!

我会杀你!!!"

Literally: "Go to hell! I know you don't have a working visa in China. I will report it to the Exit and Entry national bureau that you don't have a visa!!! Bitch!!!

I will kill you!!!:

Any suggestion?

Statistical blackmail

If you have a stash of email addresses belonging to foreign national, you can send to each of them messages menacing to reveal their (supposedly) irregular situation. Statistically, if you have enough email addresses, some people *WILL* have an irregular situation. Such people who are indeed in an irregular situation might be ready to pay some money to the blackmailer.

Where the hell you can get a stash of emails addresses ? Well, some people pay money for this, therefore some people will be ready to to sell this. Say, a not very scrupulous office worker. With enough office worker, there will be at least one not very scrupulous.

Use 'spam' button!

Remember, if someone wants to report you to Pope in Rome, he/she won't send you an email, first!

There is not a lot you can do as you have chosen to live and work here on the wrong type of visa (if that is indeed the case). If you do have the right type of visa, you can report it to the authorities. If you do not have the right type of visa, grin and bear it as you are unlikely to get any sympathy from the powers that be.

as i use QQ for keeping contact with students, i always refuse to connect with random strangers.

Having declined an invitation from one guy, he then proceeded to send an extremely offensive email to the QQ address.

However, the idiot failed to notice he had included his work phone number on his profile.

I made it clear that if he continued to email me, i would call his boss. I then blocked him.

unfortunatly there is not much you can do unless it escalates, other than be wary of online activity.

Threatening emails.

1. block it , but save a copy.

2. if you keep getting it them, notify your embassy .

3. watch your back, but go on as normal.

someone had a bad day venting on you , said and done. but if you keep getting them then take caution.

You can find a way to know the person if you care who sent it.

1) is there any recent activities concern trouble/fight/abusive/flirt/affair you have been ?

2) email came from personal email id ?

3) do you have any idea about the person who might sent you ?

4) There is possibly a way that you can at least know his city from the email id, if you don't know, i can try to help you with it.

Good Luck and Live like King anywhere ..
