Q: Todays happy New Chinese Visa Types day, right?

Ok, so yeah today it's official, the new visa's start. New names, new rules and more.

So please tell us your new experience with your new visa's when ever you get them, what or how was it different then your last visa?

Stuff we already know:

1. No more F visa's, now they're called M visa's
2. No more L Family visiting visa's. Now we have to figure out the Q1/Q2 visa's and somehow related S1/S2 visa's.
3. Longterm and short-term Z visa's ( resident permit)
4. Spousal Green cards for foreigners married to Chinese for 5 years ( must be 5 years in a row and maybe require to own a house.).
6. R visa's for foreigners with special talents ( I can do a wicked dance to Old Mac Donald..) If you get an R visa, i can be good for maybe 5 years.

So let's get started. Oh keep a watch on "DDD" = Dooms Day December, why? It was predicted that this is when illegal F working foreigners would run into a brick wall and no longer be able to live the visa life they once had and be forced out. I don't know if that'll really happen or if the same thing will continue on M visa's. We'll see how the the new system works.

Good luck to all.

I had to attend an 'interview' this time around - i hadn't too before. This consisted of me sitting in a room with a police officer and a translator. All i was asked to do was sign the page of details taken from my passport. All the foreign guys i was with at the time said they were asked a couple of questions. "Are you here to steal our women?" (joking)

ironman510:

Sounds about right, we also had to attend the renewal interview at the PSB, and sign a sworm document that we didn't have any illegal or criminal background, it also had 5 page's attached to it concerning the new visa's and laws. My translator was pissed because she had to fill in this new document.

I'm right in the middle of my working permit and visa renewal process. Handed over the docs for the working permit on Monday last week, waiting to get the brown book to move into the visa now.

If any strange additional request, I will post.

ironman510:

After you get the brown or maroon colored book (expert certificate), you'll go down to the PSB and they'll cancel the a Z visa and stick in a Residents Permit into your passport and you're hear by grandfathered into the government safe and sound.

Ah then you're renewing your resident working permit. Oh you'll be fine, but your passport will be with the PSB 3 weeks.

Oh but Andy make sure your company gives you a copy of the visa receipt while your passport is being held for 3 weeks, it'll be your only form of legal ID in China, and for hotels, flights and police checks, or even bank transactions. It's hell not having my passport for 3 weeks.

A:It's up to the employer if they want to hire you that's fine most cities today require you to take a health check every year when renewing the working visa if you pass the health check and you get your visa renewed each year I know teachers that are in their 70s and they're still doing great -- ironman510
