Q: Travel question for outer Hangzhou area.

A friend and his wife are coming to visit for about 3 days, and we were thinking about going to visit someplace outside of hangzhou but not too far away. They have been before and seen all the sights in Hangzhou, so we were thinking about Qiandao Lake or Yellow Mountain or any other idea that comes up.

Has anyone traveled around those places much? Advice on which is better? Hotels?

I was in Lin'an half a year in 2010, small city some 40 km N (I think??) of H., but nowhere else. I dislike big cities in China, and H. is huge.

Maybe there's some useful info. about the area on Trip Advisor:

and for hotels booking, you can look at Agoda:

A friend of mine just did a trip to MoGanShan - only an hour or 2 outside of HZ itself. Looks like back home - mountains, trees, vineyards, etc - you want more details??
