Q: Traveling to Germany and France

I will be traveling to Germany and France next week, Munich and Paris to be specific. I would like to know, what is their version of the teahouse scam? Or what are some things that are rip offs that I should avoid?

I believe there is nothing like tea house scams there, just be beware mostly for Gypsies, do not show off your money and be careful while at ATM.  just do not buy any souvenirs on major places, as they are made in china and overpriced.

yeah definitely if you see a gypsy just scream. Scream in a loud voice until someone comes and helps you.

Europe is more about good old fashioned robbery than scams.   A few years ago I had a arsehole grab my phone on the Paris metro and jump off just as the doors were closing.  There are also a lot of pick pockets about.

One thing you gotta watch out for in Paris are jerkoffs (usually african immigrants, sounds bad saying it but it's almost universally true) trying to put stupid little bracelets on your wrist when you aren't paying attention and then trying to intimidate you into giving money for it. Like 10 euro for a piece of string something insane like that.

They'll try and corner you in a group real quick on a metro train, never alone then scatter like rats if you make a fuss and especially if transit cops might be around.

Just watch your wrists, if you shoo them away before they can get it on you they have nothing to argue you owe them for.

In Munich you should be aware of the massive influx of asylum seekers - mostly from Syria.  Although the vast majority of them are no problem, I do know of people there who've had some problems with beggars and the city itself is at bursting point.  Just keep your cash safe, as you would in any major city, and enjoy Oktoberfest!
