It was the first western entertainment show on mainland Chinese television (movie pilot), but another show was the first series shown (so I am told).

It was a telemovie first, then three more telemovies, then the TV series.
The first TV movie was the first western show screened on Chinese mainland TV.
Then China remembered that Atlantis belongs to China.
