Q: Tropics: work time: storm time - who decides to work or not?

I know the news/weather here too ....  they are building 10 - 30 story places next to my place --- somedays..... many days, like today, nobody around  ..... and yes there is a bit of a threatening storm ......  but there is just about every day in June/July here in Zhanjiang ..................I'm all for safety and forethought, but ......  these guys get too much time off.......  structures are done, do some interior shit ......  I think ..... silly me, they're doing it the Chinese way.  不急于   Bù jíyú

I was reading some Hong Kong job add at some point the specifically talked about days of in times of crappy weather (sorry, the actual terminology escapes me) at some point I talked to a business man I know in HK and he told me that it is pretty well defined and they budget in some days wasted towards crappy weather every year. It's probably not well defined for China.

Don't underestimate the difference in wind speed at ground level and at 20-30 floors up. Could be dificult to hang on up there.

I cannot speak for construction but in the rest of the working sector in Nanning it appears you decide, based on the old premise, turn up for work you get paid, don't turn up, don't get paid.                Simples.
