Q: Unfortuantley, I felt I had to leave China after signing a contract, what happens next?

Yes, I believed the educational and consulting company in Guangzhou when they explained away all the "holes" in the contract.  No, I shouldn't have.  To make a long story short, the position and location were changed and while I had countless oral agreements, emails, Skype messages, WeChat, etc., the contract still technically allowed them to do this.  I guess they thought after moving to Guangzhou and spending all the money to get started, I'd be under their thumb and accept whatever job they threw my way.  I felt that what they were doing was immoral at least and most probably, illegal.  So, I left China after trying to reason with the company yielded no acceptable results.  I messaged them letting them know I would not be coming back (before I ever taught any classes for them or set foot in any school) and that I would be willing to assist with anything that needed to be done to cancel the residence permit, etc.  There was no response.  I never saw or received a signed version of the contract (apparently the person that needed to sign it was out of the office).  We did seem to get the visa and residence permit OK and legally.  I'm not sure what happened after I left.  Does anyone know if they have to notify of the cancelation of the permit and what the probability of them "blacklisting" me is?  They threatened with investigation for breach of contract and blacklisting.  All in all a horrible experience but I would like to keep the doors open for other opportunities in China in the future (if possible).  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

no worries, just get a new passport and with it a new passport number and come into a different province next time, be a slave to large training school for a year because they do it right and legal and then move on to greener pastures.

Honestly, I'd pass it on to SAFEA so they can 'investigate'. If it's a small business, they might get scared into not stuffing people around in the future.

It's unlikely anything will come of this - short or long term.
