Q: Update: Anonymous function gone
Dear eChinacities users,
After several hiccups, the anonymous function has been removed. Hopefully this will mean users can no longer argue with themselves on the forum (you know who you are!)
Have a great day!
Admin Cat
Woohoo!
VPN-related questions and claims that ESL teachers are being cheated just dropped 92%.
expatlife26:
I know f*ck those guys. Same tired BS again and again. I'm sure i sounded like a broken record myself trying to call them out
rasklnik:
is it true that somebody leaks the VPN's to the Powers-that-be?
Vicky aka. Strawberry66 your end is coming. Also that guy from the CFTU.
dongbeiren:
I hope Vicky doesn't get banned. She keeps it interesting.
Stiggs:
I don't have a problem with Vicky, like Dongbeiren says, she keeps it interesting and she's mostly good company just like everyone else.
That CTFU crap just bores me though.
haha, the thread got 1 downvote. I wonder if that was the resident troll?
Im soooo curious about these people that admin keeps saying is arguing with themselves.
dongbeiren:
Maybe you me and laowaigentleman are all the same person
royceH:
I read that whole thing between you blokes and even understood some of it. Enough to know that one of you definitely doesn't represent mainstream NZ'ers (as attested).
The Canadian one of you and myself could quite feasibly spend many an hour together over cold beverages (despite me having no love of money or material things). The NZ one of you wouldn't see the schooner out, however, before I found myself angling for the door.
No offence.
ScotsAlan:
It's not me Mike
.
I openly admit to being a socialist. I have a left wing agenda, and I am often accused of being a wumao or a Party apologist. I have no problem with that, because we all have a right to free speech ( but not in China).
But lets look at the possible motives. Want to make China look bad? Ask a question that is on the edge, put forward some strong anti China answers.
It could be Chinese Government agents doing a 100 flowers campaign. "Hey man, this is shit, do you agree?".
It could be foreign agents.
It could be journalists, trying to get good quotes.
At the end of the day it does not matter. For all we know Obama might be a poster here. Yeah yeah, probably not.
You just need to be careful, and mindful of where you are.
In the meantime, I think we should celebrate us all being anonymous to each other. Because most of us hold the concept of democracy close to our hearts, We were brought up with it. And the whole key to it is we are anonymous. In the past, when we cast our vote our name was not attached. Our X could not be traced. No repurcussions for voting for the loser.
Being anonymous is cool.
Ohh... I forgot where I am ![]()
laowaigentleman:
@dongbeiren
It depends on which way the wind is blowing and how wet your finger is at the time. No offense ![]()
Now hypos on the run...great step though it will affect some of the geniune questions where identity revelation could create a problem for the user...Anyhow lot of BS gone...
Whoever it is that argues with them self, wow. Get a life!
Admin, you can take away all my points if you can tell me who Mattaya/ Silva was
philbravery:
mine too
and a address and phone number ......ohhh and a Photo of them if not to much trouble
I will supply the darts and board ![]()
To the Honorable Mr. Admin Cat Sir,
You can have all my points for a list of those who argue with themselves. I already have two flashlights and too many coats/jackets.

I may be able to sweeten the deal. Holla back at me, bro! (Sis?!)
That anonymous thing never bothered me at all. What did it matter? A bit like the tv really, if you don't like it, don't watch it.
laowaigentleman:
Same here. If I saw an anonymous poster and thought the thread was going to be tedious, I just didn't click on the thread.
Maybe China's having an effect on some people. Do we really need an administrator to do something we can do by ourselves?
What a profound question to ask! and in China too of all places!
Sinobear:
My problem with the anonymous postings was that some people have an agenda and a lot of misinformation gets posted. The forum is supposed to be to help people...baiting, racism, spreading rumors and personal agendas should not be part of it.
Censorship is not always done with the intent to suppress.
laowaigentleman:
@sinobear
Point taken. I hadn't taken racial abuse etc into account. I had assumed those kinds of comments were mopped up by the systems already in place.
Obviously if you have to post under your account name, you're less likely to say those things (if you're so inclined) given the prospect of being banned.
I saw lots of shit questions posted by "anon" and almost always ignored them. They were rarely amusing, so very quickly the curiosity I previously had had disappeared.
and also reveal how our accounts are logged in every midnight.. I log in to this website after a week and find myself getting one point every day for seven days
expatlife26:
I think that's just because you aren't signed out. Like if you sign in and just let it sit without signing out you'll get a point every new day.
TedDBayer:
I never sign out, I don't get point unless I open this page.
Did uou make this your home page? If so yr computer may turn on at night for maintainance and log in.
