Chinese and the way they think.
Expat Americans and the way they think.
Being seen as an expat American, including assumptions about the way I think.

- Liberal originally means progressive right-wing, a.k.a. free trade, tax reduction, business-oriented. It still means this everywhere else in the world.
- Football is played with your feet.
- Cheese is not made in factories, and it is not sterilized before consumption.
- A religious government is generally not a good idea.
- Socialist, Social Justice 'Warrior", ans citizens' rights (rebranded 'entitlements') are not evil.

I love the political comedy coming out of the USA, because they have amazing material to work with. In terms of image, though, Americans are like a bad parody of western culture. Stop being China's amusing Dancing Bears, and don't help paint the rest of us with the same brush.

Not much! I am an easy going person, so I mostly laugh.

Now, I am the position of terminating the Contract, because School's violations. In order to do that, I must sign new Contract first, because my RP is still valid, and I need new RP sponsor....However, Private International school (as new RP sponsor) rep reply was: 'I can't give you signed and stamped Contract till I don't see Release letter. As soon as you get RL, I will give you signed Contract!'

It's moot point, because if one resigns before new Contract with new RP sponsor is signed, you face either sign Contract they'll offer you, without choice of Contract edit, and if you aren't happy with offered Contract, you must exit China.

Now, I yielded and resigned first and got Release and Rec. letter.

Promise given about Contract wasn't kept with rep.'s explanation: 'Trust me! If you won't trust me, you can't work here.'

How can you trust somebody, if you've never met person before, and person in Q didn't do anything for you, yet?

Stupid way of running the business in China and showering with promises, which are forgotten soon after they were given.

Only, two things recently!cool

That is the very definition of venting. "I had a bad day! Why don't you tell me about what makes you angry first! And maybe I'll tell you about my bad day. "

It started with the pedals of my bike falling off on the way to work. Bought the bike a month ago...

My lunch was cut short due to an emergency meeting that was just administrators repeating themselves over and over about stuff we already know about.

The construction in my apartment that's been ongoing for two months interrupted my nap.

Then I find out I have to go to HK tomorrow because my school fed up my visa.

ARGH!!!

Stay a few days in HK - get them to pay for it. Have a nice holiday! :)

My bad day today was caused by 3 things.

First, I awoke (late) to discover my phone had bricked. Update to windows phone 10 had gone well, but then it bricked. That was no 1.

Missed the bus to work. So went on my ebike. One particular road user caused me fustration when she displayed a total lack of spatial awareness as she numbly cycled straight into my path. Number 2.

Number 3. Work. I need to lose 0.2mm from something, and nobody can tell me why.

Oh. There is a number 4. The screw holding the front lamp onto my bike decided to de-thread its-self..

There might be a number 5 if there is no bread in the shop.

0.2mm? Chinese size or British size?

Chinese 0.2mm. Measured on a gauge with a gauge R&R of 35%.... On a good day :-) Only joking about the R&R. Its just the logic that winds me up. Or total lack of, I should say. I work with some excellent engineers. But when I have to deal with skewed logic, followed by comments about how drinking cold water will kill me.... Well. My head implodes.

Europeans who bash the US without being prompted when I'm at the bar. I met a German guy in Hong Kong that went on and on about American exceptionalism and racism until I reminded him of some choice words from his country's past like lebensraum and the final solution. We got along better after that.

The absence of real life.  And I find it incredible that so many people are content to just keep on doing the same things, which are actually nothing.  Including me.
