Q: Visa applications canceled if 55 years old?

I'm receiving multiple reliable sources and close friends that are having their visa renewals rejected because they are 55 and over. So far we're hearing Shenzhen and Hainan.

Start updating this if you guys are hearing the same thing it helps others plan in advance.

This could also mean that they have fully implemented the working permit scoring system. those who want to remain teachers in this country need to have their score higher by salary, Chinese proficiency (HSK) also that would mean a PhD in master's degree would also help in this situation it looks like a bachelor degree is not going to be enough to keep teachers over 55 in the country if this turns out to be a new trend.

smiley  Applying for a ride at the Cape Canaveral seems simpler ... no

I had the same thought in 2017 at the latest Chinese Labour law changes and it's just getting worse ...

As I was working as an ET in China, honestly I was like:

"This is good ... until it lasts!"

Chinese don't want foreign teachers and such sentiment isn't a new thingy!

Soon, AI (robots) will fulfill all needs Chinese have toward the learning of a foreign languages and more ... for a fraction of the cost of a real, imported foreign ET.

I read, some schools in China already have AI in the classrooms.

You have to think about the changing of a profession ... or abandoning China and go elsewhere ... who can ...

Laowai with family in China don't have such an option.

Good luck to all!

P. S.

I have a great option (for me, at least!) at changing of the profession.

If somebody is looking for it. PM me for more details!

icnif77:

Just to add considering my statement above about AI ...

I was watching financial stream over u-Tube today and interviewee, Ran Neuner, who has his own stream channel, shows how he is able to broadcast his stream in any worldly language with the help of AI.

The thingy (AI) can even make his lips on the screen move and his voice sounds as he would really speak that foreign language .. for a higher fee, of course ... and all that is possible to arrange at the same time his English stream goes on.

Here is the link, if somebody wants to see this ...WAIT!

It's David Lin's (ex-Kitco News, Precious Metals presenter) stream ... click on the 40th minute, by the end of the stream ...

I have read about the age of teachers cannot be over 55. That is my reasoning for not applying. The only way I will visit China is by taking a vacation. My friend's parents worked over there as teacher during WWII and I would like to have the opportunity to visit

In the statement above where someone wrote that the Chinese do not want foreign teachers I was told that when China shut down the ESL companies it was for several reasons. One was the Chinese did not the foreign ( or American) influence on thier students. I can see that there are many Americans who might influence the children in a negative through their poor habits. I can understand this because I, myself, search out learning opportunities for my children that does not through them into the mainstream learning processes.
Another reason China closed down the ESL tutoring was it was causing the families to put too much money into this area. After China had their latest census and the government saw that the old generation outnumbered the young generation they have realized that families need to have more children. The older generation will not have enough people to take care of them. This is understandable. If the families kept the extra they were spending they would have enough money for supporting more children.
And one of the last reasons I heard was that two of the more well-known ESL companies was charging outrageous prices for their services. I believe became more of a problem after the shut down and parents were still waiting for their refund only to find out that the companies had poor book keeping and there was no money left to reimburse the parents. Sadly, the companies never paid the tutors near what they took in.Now, those who have continued to tutor state that they ' are worth more' than the amount being offered.  Maybe that is correct, maybe it is not.

All of these reasons are justifiable.

Yeah, like elsewhere is so different ... remembering 'Up-Yours' when USA almost cancelled him from the records, but ras-Putin 'extended' (LMAO!) his middle finger, also ... and saved him.

A: If you received an online degree in most cases it should have been from a reputable college. If it came from a degree mill that definitely would be a problem. You should not worry about how they will contact this place. If the degree is considered authentic the people will know where to go to inquire. In my case I needed a copy of my diploma and one company in China recommended a Clearinghouse that was able to verify my degrees. They did not provide copies of the diploma, though. If the place where you received this degree is acceptable in your country then, it should be acceptable in China.Another point to consider you stated it was an MS degree. I have not aware of any programs that allow students to hop from a high school education to a Masters degree level education. With that said maybe you received a Bachelors degree. If that is the case submit that information.  I would not encourage you to lie. In that you definitely will not have any paper trail to back up your story. Some companies do not accept TEFL online especially if it came from International Open Academy. That place is a one room office. I would consider that a TEFL mill. It was such a waste of time.Do you have the ability to do searches online? -- slspringer22
