Recently i had changed my passport to NEW one as my OLD got expired. My old passport has the valid visa and residence permit of china.
Is it required for me to change the re-transfer the Visa to the NEW passport or it can be as it now??

If you still have both passports it should be ok,if not it will have to be put into new passport
I just went through this with my American passport. They allowed me to keep my old passport and my new passport. When it comes time to renew my visa/work permit, I will use the new passport. Until then, the old one still works.
Not quite correct what "paulmartin" is saying. "Z" Visa, is also known as a Resident's Permit, however you will not get a "Z" visa valid longer than your work permit. The work permit is the controlling document. If your passport becomes full they will put a new visa in your new passport, but it will have an expiry date the same as the one in the old passport.
You can call your local consulate and ask them. By law every time you get a new passport you need to get your visa transferred. though few, if any, people get into a jam when trying the visa in the expired passport trick.
Also becareful if you plan on staying in any hotels in china, remember to bring both passports as your new passport will not have an entrance stamp in it and it will cause all sorts of problems.
Whow, I see a lot of good intentions (or just write anything to gain more points) and even more wrong answers.......
I do not care from what country you come from, when your passport expires, your visas on that OLD PASSPORT EXPIRES also, because it is no longer a valid document.
Yes, USA nationals when they renew their passport (at expiration date or nearby) they do get the old one back.
Chinese Regulations require that when your passport expires you must also renew the visa and/or residence permint (which IS NOT A "Z" TYPE or work visa). What vyou need to do will depend on the type of visa you had on old passport. It is clearly indicated on your visa to China the passport number attached to, and since the old passport ios no longer valid, your visa is no longer valid, and also any permits associated with that visa on your old passport.
Using both passports as suggested, may cause you a problem when you least expected. Just need an Official who got up from the wrong side of the bed that morning to give you all kind of hell. A lot easier to go to PSB and apply for a new one, do bring both passports with you.

You should first read the OP's question, before you make comments. YOU CAN'T HAVE A WORK PERMIT WITHOUT A "Z" VISA. Retarded idiot.

Mr Bennyfulltrack: please show to me where I said that he did not have a "Z" visa as you indicated. All I said was that a residence permit, or a work permit, are not a "Z" visa, and I stand on that as correct. A visa is issued by an Embassy abroad, PSB within China only issues permits, which in fact do work like a visa, but they are not called visas. Only PSB's located at some entry ports are permited to issue visas. As to your retarded idiot comment. you are not worth my answer.
