Q: Volunteering in China?
I have some time to spare, and would love to volunteer. Has anyone ever volunteered with an NGO or other organisation here? Not sure where to start looking, so any experiences/organisations throughout the country would be good to get started on my search.
Preferably orphanages, migrant schools, women's centers etc. Thanks!
Not sure about NGOs and such, but I do know party members are expected to do volunteer work.
Maybe ask a party member and offer your services ?
This suggestion is not as daft as it sounds. A local woman I know was a volunteer for the party and she spent a year or so as a visitor to an old folks home before her job took up all her free time. She enjoyed it and was sad to give it up.

This suggestion isn't daft at all, but where do I find a party member? Maybe I should ask the man who walks around with the red arm band on...

Party members are everywhere. Just ask your boss if they know who the Party members are. He will know. Honestly, they do good work at grass root level.

They are located in Lang Fang, a city about an hour south of Beijing and are always looking for volunteers.
