Q: Wearing No Makeup
I noticed something really intersting about Chinese women. Unlike Korean women Chinese women wear light make up or none at all and have no problem. Plus they seem to not care as much as to how they look concerning hair, clothes. etc. in comparison to their Korean counterparts. - Why?
I could not give you an answer in general, but in a few cases I know it is a combination of a couple of things. First "make-up" does cost money, and they do not have a lot or do not wish to expend it since make-up is not a basic necessity. And the second reason (it was a surprise to me) is that some feel that using make up is just for prostitutes and a symptom of Western decadency. Yet, many do wear the white facial powder made of grounded pearls to make their skin look whiter.
Chinese mentality is a very complex one for many Westeners, not simple to explain "why" ?.
What city are you in ? In Shanghai maaaany women wear make up. It's even required at certain jobs here .
As a general answer to your question, though, I would assume they don't wear make up like Korean women do because ... they're not Korean.
What do you mean exactly? There are girls here who wear makeup, although sometimes it is only some eyeliner, along with the white face powder. There are plenty of girls who don't, but that's true in any country. Every country has a different standard of beauty and maybe makeup isn't as necessary in that respect. Besides, as Ichickman said, in Shanghai they often wear makeup. It depends where you live. If you live in a small town, chances are that less women will wear makeup and high heels.
That they look like they don't wear make up doesn't mean they don't. They just prefer to go for the 'natural look'. I think I wrote it here once already, but I met one of my friends once wearing absolutely no make up and I didn't recognise her. I always thought she did not use a lot of make up but apparently she used a lot of 'natural' looking contact lenses, double eyelid stickers, foundation etc...to the point where her face became totally different.
I thought most women dressed nice, some more sexy. As for makeup, I noticed a few did. I was in the south and since it was almost 40* out, I can't blame anyone for not wearing makeup even if they wanted.The women looked good even with out makeup. I know they did not know perfumes either. Perfume and makeup cost money. I don't think they need makeup.
I don't see why this is issue. If a girl is hot without make-up, then that's a good thing.
And I know a lot of girls like this. So beautiful au natural.
Personally I like girls who don't douse themselves in over the top makeup.
I prefere girls that don't wear make-up (or at least very little). It's nice to wake up next to the same thing you went to bed with.
