WeChat is in English if the phone is in English, works fine. Before xmas I tried the "People nearby" feature in my home town. And there was another wechat user just 4Km away.

Wechat is international. I often chat to people in Uk and Bangladesh on it. It runs on cheap phones very well too. Go on....get yourself a cheap smart phone. You wont regret it Smile

ScotsAlan:

You can get a perfectly good smartphone for about 500 rmb. It might only last a year, but once you get the hang of it you will be fine. Wechat is cool. Go for it. Blow your wage on a smartphone. Instant messaging, share your moments with photos. Your mates can see your photos and insult you accordingly :-) Go for a haircut and post on echinacities.
