Q: Weird hangovers from Chinese beer

I recall a recent trip to Beijing where I downed a fair few bottles of Yanjing, and also a keg of Qingdao in a studenty-bar place thingy. The beer tasted a bit off, and the hangover the nexrt day was like nothing I'd ever felt before, like someone was drilling through my head. I wasn't even that drunk, and usually when I am I feel very dry with a headache that lasts until the afternoon. This headache lasted the whole day and I just felt braindead. What do they put in these beers?!

Who knows how well that keg was cleaned/prepped before reuse. Same thing will happen to me sometimes after drinking a few too many drafts of whatever is on tap (versus drinking from cans/bottles), albeit probably to a lesser degree than what you described.

All the additives that they use, those are the killer. Most macro breweries are the same, I try to  stick to premium beers, they are worth the extra money.

What you describe is the classic symptoms of having had some counterfeit beer/alcohol.

When drinking, drink canned beer (more difficult to copy than bottles)

Only drink what you open yourself

Don't leave your drink, if you need to, get a new one when you return

These beer must be more powerful, there are many hangover cure but in mostly cures you need to do treatment before you drink, either taking anti hangover pills or by taking food. But once you have drunk you now there is a little treatment that you can do but before hangover, you need to do work out before your drunkness convert into hangover and you need to drink plenty of water to keep you well hydrated.
