About 3 months ago , back when it was in the middle of the rainy season in the Summer, it was raining really hard.  Raindrops weren't drops anymore, they were fullblown rain missiles and rainbombs. It was almost like D-Day but with only using rain.   There were no other people outside considering the ferocity of this rainstorm.

Lo and Behold, my eyes were drawn to another humanly figure a mere 100 meters in front of me. Some old Chinese guy without an umbrella, super soaked, wearing a  ratty old wife beater.  He was standing spread eagle in front of a giant flower planter used for urban landscape decoration.

He was taking a giant piss in the flower pot.   I guess he assumed that since it's a torrential downpour, nobody will be able to notice he's pissing in public!  

Here is the deal. 4 years in China. I have not seen weird. I've seen sad, disgusting, stupid, arrogant, smelly and such, but never weird. Individualism just doesn't bite the Chinese public, or they are all being individual in the same way at the same time.

to many weird things but one truly memorable was a sunday morning walk at 5 am and and the muslim restaurant i frequent quite a bit was killing a goat on the sidewalk, skinning it and cutting up the pieces and then washing the blood into the sewer system, apparently to get the flavor of the goat meat better you kill the goat with more adrenaline in the goat by killing the goat in front of another goat so the goats fear brings out a better flavor, this happens every sunday right outside the high school front gate right at sunrise like a ritual, later 4000 innocent unknowing kids ride their bikes right over the killing field of slaughter.

I was on my way to a small town up in the mountains, 8 hours from Chengdu. The bus made an awful lot of noise (imagine a bag of mechanical parts in a washing machine), then stopped. I look the road behind : the whole transmission train felt and was spread over the road in a couple of parts. The driver was then looking at the parts, holding one screwdriver in his hand and scratching his head. Happy to be alive, I decided to finish the trip by foot.
