Q: What’s an interesting cultural thing to do on the weekend while in Taiyuan?

i'll be in taiyuan for two nights on the weekend- am not a big drinker, or partier, hoping to soak up the culture a little and relax before heading back to me home country on tuesday

depends on wht you want to do. i like going to teahouses, and Wenxiang Teahous on Tiyu Xi Lu is set in a garden environment. You can enjoy many differnet types of teas that are brought and served to you in excellent wares and you can see rotating art exhibits there too. this place and the expereince of it seem very chinese cultural to me

There are all types of cultural things to do. You could ride a rickshaw, get on one of those fancy boats that you can rent and ride around the lake, visit some performances like chinese acrobatics, opera etc., if they have that going on there at that time. Learn a dance outside with those groups that practice their traditional dance. They can probably be found in front of shopping malls or in neighborhoods.

Visit one of their buddhist temples if there are any there. And if your not buddhist you can at least observe the culture and how they worship the buddha here.

A:What are you going to do, if I tell you answer is: 'forever' or 'never'? Chinese recruiters don't have the same habits as the western recruiters have ... Never stop sending your CV to the job offers, not even when you have an invitation or two for an interview! Don't expect Chinese will send you "Thank you for your application. You weren't selected at this time ...!" notice, so keep sending yer CV to the newly posted job openings. Looking for a job in China was like a part-time job in my time in China ... Good luck! -- icnif77
