Q: What is the actual breed of 狼狗?

Last night a couple of guys wanted to go out for what they called "hero meat."  They said it wasn't dog, but wolfdog.  Are they talking about an actual wolf/dog hybred or something more along the lines of a collie or shepherd?

its a crossbreed between german sheperds and a few other breeds. They were made in the 1950s to be military dogs. Maybe they said "hero" meat because they sometimes are used as rescue dogs.
Doesnt seem like the kind of dog you would eat... but Im guessing that it is "good for man."
