Q: What are the benefits of marrying a Chinese woman?

Hi everyone,

It's been a long time I have been struggling to stay in China because of the Visa. I stay here because I am in a relationship with a Chinese girl, It's been a long time now. So... just out of curiosity, what are the benefits of marrying a Chinese woman?

Does she get the French nationality (I am French) or ...?

Will I have the right to come and leave China as many time as I want?

What happens with the passport?

Thanks for your answers Wink

By marrying a Chinese woman, you don't get any advantages if you decide to stay in China:

1) if you don't have a job and remain in China with a family type resident permit, then both you and your future wife will struggle to get papers and renew your documents. You will have to go renew your resident permit every year and go through the hassles of Chinese bureaucracy every year,

2) you don't get any social benefits or other advantages,

3) you're still not allowed to work, except if you find a company who can hire you and change your resident permit into a working permit.

I am not quite sure about the French legal system, but she won't acquire the French nationality right after marrying you. Some countries requests that the partner leaves in the country for several years before applying for the citizenship, some that she passes exams (language, culture, geography, etc).

Moreover, as China doesn't allow the double nationality, you have to ask your girlfriend if she may consider to give up her Chinese nationality for your French nationality.

In terms of return to France after you're married, you shouldn't have any problem as she can come to France and get a residency in France. Make sure that before you get married, all the documents have been processed through the official channels both in China and in France.

apart from being the foreign pet there are no resident advantages.

And she will have to do the same as anybody else that immigrates to another country

There are advantages but not on the long term residential front.

you need to follow the same rules as everybody else .

sorry to give you the bad news

To receive or not benefits from the marriage, besides the obvious ones, will depend on what visa arrangement you have now.  If you are in China now, but not married, probably the best you can get is an "L" visa, one year validity, multiple entry visa, maybe between 60 to 90 days stay.

So, every time the length of stay expires, you must leave the country, and return afterwards.

Now, if you were to be married to her, you could go to your local PSB Entry/Exit Bureau (must go to the one in the city where your wife's hukou book was issued or registered)with the copy of the Red Booklet (marriage booklet), your passport and visa, your Registration of Temporary Address Form, fill an application for a residence permit, pay the required fee (will need 2 x 2 ID photos too, (clear background facing camera) and in 5 days it will be granted if you pass the health check.

Maybe the first one will be for either 6 months to one year.  If 6 months, next one will be a year.  after 5 years, if still married, you may get increments of one year each successive time, up to 5 years.  This "residence permit" takes over your "L" tourist visa, if requested multiple entry, you can go in and out for as long as you want or can.  And 5 days minimum prior to expiration, go back to PSB and request a new one.  Still married to the same Lady, then you will get it.

Now, some may not consider that a benefit, some others may.

I clearly said that you get the residence permit after presenting documents IF YOU PASS THE HEALTH CHECK. I never said you need a health check to get married !.

If she gets French nationality remember she will lose her Chinese nationality, they do not allow dual nationality here. This may be of some relevance. I am English and my wife kept her Chinese nationality and passport but has an indefinite stay visa for the UK, the best of both worlds for us, but I don't know if it will work the same in France.

alexanderrz:

i think it will work, im not sure! i am from Romania, we are all in UE, it could be the same rules about immigration.(in UK, France, all over the UE)

I'm not sure, better is to check and recheck with your embassy!

what is with chinese trying to act as if they are foreigners. are you so disgusted with being chinese that you would try to be anything but chinese when you get on the net. china has a rich history and deep culture . all these locals coming on here acting as if they are anything but chinese are a disgrace to their country and race.

There is a wonderful new invention called the internet.

it lets you talk to your embassy and other government bodys in your on country and the one you are living in all at a push of a button or two.

you can also choose a language that you are comfortable with

 (sarcasm)

To the above, I will only add, just make sure to change the keyboard every time you switch languages...

Maybe you can get access to authentic Chinese food and Chinese massage!

Maybe your kids will know Kongfu and will be good at math.

Maybe your kids can speak fluent Chinese.

Maybe your child will look mixed.

But maybe, just maybe coz who knows what the Chinese girl you want to marry is capable of?

But one thing is for sure, you can learn Chinese kiss.

It's just like French kiss, but down there.

Oh, by the way, the thing about Chinese kiss, I just made it up.

Legally speaking there are zero benefits in marrying a local, you can never become a permanent resident of the PRC, let alone a citizen.

Family wise some Chinese women make great devoted spouses and mothers, but you must filter the good ones in a sea of greedy whores.

Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3.
