Q: What are the best Chinese cigarette brands?

I'm trying to go more native by smoking Chinese cigarettes, any suggestions?

Sept Wolves - the red and gold pack. Made in Fujian.
They're around 14 RMB per pack. If you are a Canadian smoker, you'll like them as they're made with Virginia tobacco although they're a tad on the strong side for most people.

Don't smoke anything with a blue butt, they're all awful in my experience. If I could get home brands I'd stick with them. Sounds paradoxical, but they're much 'healthier' than the Chinese ones.

中南海aren't so bad, because they're not the "perfumed" type of cigarettes and not so heavy, so for those who also chain smoke when they drink, those are perfect.
金桥(Golden bridge) taste better and aren't perfumed, but they really, really hurt your lungs after smoking them for a few months.
红塔山are perfumed, but I actually find them pretty good.

Tian Zi, Zhong Hua, Yun Yan, and the Red Panda (Hong Jiao).

Taking ZHong Nan Hai中南海 to a business meeting will only get you laughed at.

kchur:

Well, yeah, but he said what brand is the best. I always have two packs: a pack of 红河 for me to actually smoke, and a pack of disgusting Zhonghua to hand out to Chinese.

Generally, the Chinese cigarettes give filthy or faeces flavour in throat after you puff out the smoke. But There is two brands;  dearer brand: Chunghwa  and cheaper brand: Huangshan. These two brands have pleasant flavour and taste. Otherwise, better to carry on the internationally popular cigarette brands like Marlboro, Camel or one of the oldest cigarette brands in the world Sobranie London Classic.15 to 20 RMB can buy a packet of these .

Don't think that expensive cigarettes are good here.. It all depends on how much you smoke and what's your taste. Hong Nanjing you can give it a try... 12 yuan!!
